Description
The name of the garden from which this tea comes means “valley behind the clouds”, and indeed the temperate climate with light cloud and intermittent sunshine play an important role in how the tea plants develop their complex, flowery flavours. A relatively small tea estate, Poobong is located in the Ghoom District of Darjeeling. With just 500 acres of land under tea it is one of the few tea gardens in Darjeeling still in private ownership and produces only around 70,000 kg of tea a year.
We chose this tea for our “best value” range because it has a typical first flush character. Clear in the cup, light and well balanced, the liquor is a pale amber with a pleasant floral aroma. The taste is mild and sweet and leaves a very pleasant, long aftertaste.
We believe that everybody, whatever their budget, shouldn’t have to go short of good tea. Our “best value” range includes teas that of course taste great but are also uncomplicated to prepare and are even better value for you when bought by the kilo. The perfect light black tea for first thing in the morning or drinking at the office, this “best value” Darjeeling first flush is already good value for 100g, but unbeatable value when bought by the kilo.
