China Yunnan Golden Dragon black tea
This smooth, rich, mouth-filling tea from Yunnan in China is sometimes also known as Yunnan Gold, Tippy Yunnan, or in Chinese, Dian Hong Tea. “Dian” is the old name for the region Yunnan and refers to the people that ruled there until the 2nd Century. “Hong” is the Chinese word for red, and Hong Cha, or “red tea”, is what black tea is known as in China!
This batch of Yunnan Golden Dragon black tea is made from a variety of the large leaf Assamica tea plant, which is native to Yunnan Province. The use of this type of plant, which has very large buds, and the carefull preservation during processing adds to the complexity of the tea and enhances the tea’s appearance and flavour.
China Yunnan Golden Dragon black tea is known for its bold and robust flavour. It offers a malty sweetness with notes of honey and caramel. The infusion is full-bodied and the tea has a smooth, velvety texture.
