Description
The tea garden Singell is one of a handful of gardens run by a small family business called Tea Promoters India (TPI). Fully committed to organic, bio-dynamic farming practices, TPI empowers small farmers to run their tea gardens in a way which while in harmony with nature provides a secure financial footing for the community that surrounds it. Having met the family behind TPI and visited several of their gardens we are delighted to have a tea from the garden Singell in our selection.
This fine example of a high grown Darjeeling from the early days of the second flush period is both flowery/fruity and earthy, with a good balance between the two. With hints of ripe apricots and peaches, honey and a light mineral flavour that lingers on long after the last sip has been taken. The dry leaf of this tea is of excellent quality and well rolled. Infused for just three minutes the liquor is clear and bright and the infusion mellow. Left to brew for five minutes the liquor turns to a deep golden brown and a complex array of flavours are revealed.
This is second flush Darjeeling tea for experienced Darjeeling drinkers, especially those who are constantly on the search for the best second flush as they know it from years gone by.
