Description
The tea estate Badamtam was first planted in 1858 and now belongs to the long established and highly respected Goodricke Group. Beautiful and peaceful, a statue of Buddha presides over the tea bushes and on a clear morning at sunrise one sees the stunning snow-capped peaks of the Kanchenjunga mountain range. A suspension bridge over the Rangeet river links the Estate to the Sikkim.
Known for producing consistently high quality first and second flush teas, the dry leaf of this first flush is very light and delicate, a mixture of silver, jade and forest green. The liquor is pale golden yellow: clear, smooth and silky – very easy to drink. A good alternative to the Samabeong Spring Blossom, the first infusion is floral and fruity, with hints of pineapple and grapefruit. As the tea is so lightly rolled it tastes just as good on a second infusion.
The Goodricke Group belongs to British parent company Camellia PLC. A model global company, the Group’s management policies ensure high welfare standards and infra-structure for the Estate’s workers, especially with regards to housing, education, health and sanitation.
