Darjeeling Glenburn Silver Needle is really something quite special!
We have tried white teas from various places and are quite hard to convince that other terroirs can produce the quality and taste we expect from white tea from China. This white tea from Darjeeling is a fantastic example of how traditional methods from Asia can be successfully applied in other regions. As only a small amount of this Silver Needle from can be produced each year (the tea buds can be only be harvested in mid-summer and then on just a couple of days before the silvery white buds start to unfold) we are eternally grateful to Husna-Tara Prakash from Glenburn for releasing a small amount for us to share with you.
As the more experienced tea-drinkers amongst you will know, some teas are expensive just because they are rare. While Darjeeling Glenburn Silver Needle does not come cheap, the taste (sweet, mildly malty with hints or flowers and citrus) and the lingering aftertaste justify the price. Try it while you can, and cross your fingers that we will able to get some more once stocks run out!
