A light and refreshing tea from the early June harvest, this Sencha from the Morimotos is a blend of three different types of tea plant: Minami Sayaka, Oku Midori and Yabukita. Great value for money, this is a nice introduction to good quality Japanese tea.
Different cultivars of the tea plants have different characteristics and it is up to the skill of the tea producer to mix and combine different sorts to reach the perfect balance in the finished tea. In this case, the leaves of the tea plant Minami Sayaka provide a fruity fragrance and intense green colour. The Oku Midori leaves provide a delicate sweetness, and the leaves from the Yabukita plants provide the balanced base with a hint of umami.
