High mountain (Gao Shan) oolong is one of Taiwan’s most precious gifts and is hard to find in Europe. What makes the high mountain teas so special is terroir; in this it is case a winning combination of very high altitude, pure air, cool nights, a misty atmosphere, and ample sunshine dappled by clouds and fog. These combined factors, along with specially developed cultivars of the tea plant that are unique to Taiwan, cause the tea plants to grow more slowly than at lower altitudes and the leaves develop a complex, rich and smooth flavour.
This collection of high grown oolong tea features six teas grown at altitudes from 1200 meters to 2300 meters. To experience the full flavour spectrum and get maximum enjoyment from the tea we recommend that these teas are enjoyed “gong-fu-cha” style.
