Description
Organic Phoenix Honey Orchid Dan Cong Oolong (Mi Lan Xian Dan Cong)
This wonderful Dan Cong Honey Orchid Oolong comes from Chaozhou in the heart of the Phoenix Mountains. Made from the Song Zong cultivar, the leaves for this tea come from large tea bushes that are more than 100 years old and have been left to grow wild naturally. Just like some of the high grown Taiwan oolongs this tea is so sensational in flavour that it is hard to believe that nothing has been added to influence the taste.
When it comes to Dan Cong oolongs you get what you pay for. An organic Dan Cong Honey Orchid oolong of this quality is rare and hard to come by. The price reflects both the quality and the unique nature of this tea and we are delighted to be able to share it with you.
This Dan Cong Honey Orchid Oolong is made from original Song Zong bushes and belongs to the Mi Lan Xiang aroma family, prized for its honeyed sweetness and orchid-like florality.
While this tea can of course be prepared “western style” in a teapot using ca. 6g tea for 500ml of water and making 1 – 4 infusions of 2 – 3 minutes each, we recommend brewing it gong fu cha style, using a gaiwan or a traditional Yixing teapot. If you do this, use the same amount of tea (ca. 6g) for 120ml of water, make a first infusion of 15 – 20 seconds, then add 5 seconds for each subsequent infusion. This should allow you to make several (8 – 10) infusions during which you will experience how the aroma and flavours develop with each steeping.
