This whole-leaf Sencha from the prize-winning producer Otsuka is made from the first flush of selected quality tea leaves from Yabukita bushes that are picked in the early spring. Although this is a Fukamushi (deep steamed) tea, it has a vivid dark green and surprisingly stable long leaf. The infusion is aromatic, thick and sweet and reveals hints of asparagus and crisp green apples. Simply yummy!
Yama is an area in Southern Shizuoka, facing the Pacific Ocean. Mountainous and home to two major rivers that flow though the valleys, the area is often covered by very thick fog that acts as a natural curtain to the tea gardens located on the slopes. As a result of the climatic conditions, tea grown there contains a high percentage of amino acids and has an inherent natural sweetness.
