Practical advice and support to tea and hospitality businesses
While we don’t want to overcomplicate things, a simple cup of tea is not quite as simple as it might appear at first glance. For one thing, not including herbal or fruit tisanes, there are six categories of tea, and the teas within each category need to be prepared differently. Another thing to consider is that many loose leaf teas can be enjoyed over multiple infusions. Even if you know the basics, the best tea served in beautiful teaware will be a disappointment to your guests if it not prepared and served correctly. Our tea consultancy service provides practical advice, training and support to help you give your customers the tea experience they deserve.
Tea drinkers know how things should be done and appreciate it when things are done properly. Whether you serve tea as part of a breakfast, to accompany snacks throughout the day or as part of a full Afternoon Tea, we can help you develop a concept that is easy for you to manage, help you avoid common mistakes and exceed your guests’ expectations.
Tea selection
As life-long tea drinkers with more than twelve years’ tea retail and even more hospitality experience, through our tea consultancy service we are ideally placed to help you define your tea menu. Although you will not find teabags in our shop, we appreciate that if you are offering a guest the opportunity to prepare tea in the room, a teabag might be the simplest way. In this case we are happy to help you find the right solution for your circumstances.
Tea training for your staff
Whether you require training for one person or for a large group, in person at your premises or online, we can develop a training course to meet your specific needs. Examples of topics we typically include in training sessions are:
- Understanding the different categories of tea
- Tea storage and brewing techniques
- Understanding your tea menu and how to explain it to customers
- How to taste and describe the tastes in tea
- The history and etiquette of Afternoon Tea
- Food pairing and tea cocktails
Corporate and team building events
Learning about and making tea can be so much fun! Incorporating some learning about tea, a quiz, a hands-on tea making exercise, or even a Cream Tea with scones and clotted cream in a team building day is a sure way to focus minds and create stronger bonds amongst the participants.

Afternoon Tea Talks
Are you holding your own Afternoon Tea and would like a guest speaker to provide some background to the event? Our Afternoon Tea expert Lynn Hazlewood is available to advise you on the preparation and content of the event as well as join you to entertain your guests during the Afternoon Tea itself.
