Description
Sri Lanka has seven different tea growing areas, divided by altitude and region, and classified as low-grown, mid-grown or high-grown.
This organic Idalgashinna Orange Pekoe comes from an elevation of 1800m, in the Badulla district in Uva. Tucked away in the remote mountains on the eastern side of the central highlands, the long and sometimes arduous journey to get to Uva is worth it: Stunningly beautiful, the verdant green hills are alive with the sound of bird song and interspersed with magnificent waterfalls. Idulgashinna was one of the first tea estates to convert to organic farming in Sri Lanka. It is also genuinely fair trade and has done much to improve the quality of life of the families living and working in the tea gardens.
Perfectly smooth and mellow enough to drink plain, organic Idalgashinna Orange Pekoe is a great everyday tea which could just as easily be drunk at breakfast as with a piece of cake as a pick-me-up in the afternoon.
