This Fukamushi Sencha from the award winning producer Otsuka is a top quality tea with flat, silken, emerald green leaves. Taken from the first harvest after the winter (the leaves for sencha are picked three times a year), these leaves contain the best of the compounds that the plant has stored over the winter, it is highly aromatic and delicious, smooth and refreshing. The deep steaming part of the process causes the leaves to lose their shape and become more powdery than other green teas. This means that you consume more of the actual tea leaf and is also the reason for the rich, dark green liquour. Fukamushi style teas are said to be ideal for delicate stomachs.
