Description
Schell Milk Chocolate Rio Huimbi, Ecuador, 42%
This exquisite milk chocolate is made solely from Arriba Nacional cacao, a prized variety grown in Ecuador and loved for its depth of flavour. With 42% cocoa content, it strikes a perfect balance between creaminess and intensity. The chocolate reveals rich malt and caramel notes, rounded by a smooth, velvety texture that melts beautifully on the palate.
The name “Arriba” goes back to a Swedish explorer who, during his journey along the Guayas River, noticed an exceptionally intense, chocolatey aroma. When he asked the locals where this wonderful scent came from, they replied “de río arriba” – meaning “upstream.” The name remained and has ever since been associated with exquisite cocoa varieties from Ecuador. The term “Nacional” indicates that this unique type of cocoa grows exclusively in Ecuador.
Traditionally enjoyed alongside characterful wines such as Zweigelt, Merlot or Chardonnay, this chocolate also pairs wonderfully with tea. We recommend you try it with Assam or a Yunnan black tea such as Golden Monkey. The malty richness of the Assam and the chocolate notes in the Golden Monkey complements the chocolate’s deep caramel tones. Alternatively, for something refreshing, the green tea Genmaicha offers an intriguing contrast between the chocolate’s smoothness and the tea’s nutty warmth.
Whether savoured alone or enjoyed with tea, Schell Milk Chocolate Rio Huimbi offers a truly special taste experience, a celebration of fine cocoa and artisanal craftsmanship.
