Description
The lightest and possibly most floral of our 2022 early 1st flush Darjeeling teas, this premium tea comes directly from the beautiful tea garden Samabeong. Hidden away, surrounded by beautiful scenery with a dense coniferous forest to the east and a river flowing to the south, Samabeong is about 8km away from the pretty mountain hamlet Lava, which is the gateway to the Neora Valley National Park.
Samabeong has a temperate climate featuring dappled sunlight, heavy showers in the monsoons and breezy evenings throughout the year. The tea bushes grow at altitudes of 1400 – 2000 meters and the soil is sandy/ loam mix. The leaves used to make this batch of very rare “Spring Blossom” tea come from Ambari Vegetative 2 (“AV2”) clonal plants grown at an elevation of 2000 meters above sea level.
The dry leaf of this tea is of excellent quality, bright intact, with lots of silver tips. Infused for just three minutes the liquor is clear and bright and the infusion mild and floral. Left to brew for five minutes the liquor turns darker and further reveals hints of ripe apricots and peaches.
