Description
Called Moonlight because of the contrast between the black and silvery-white leaves, Organic Moonlight White Tea is a spectacular looking fair trade, organic white tea that is grown at an altitude of almost 1500 meters in the beautiful Wuliang mountains in Yunnan Province.
The leaves for this tea come from historic “Qing Mao” (Assamica) tea plants which have grown into trees. The leaves from these trees are normally used to make Pu Er, and although this tea has all the typical white tea flavours, it has a depth of flavour one might expect from a Pu Er. Plucked by hand (only the finest young buds and the fresh young first leaf), as with other white teas, these buds and leaves are then naturally dried. This allows the tea to oxidise slightly, resulting in the spectacular looking combination of dark and white leaves.
Full bodied for a white tea, and our nice contrast to the traditional Silver Needle, the first infusion has a velvety, buttery almost chocolatey taste. Subsequent infusions are sweet, slightly floral and retain hints of cocoa. A „must try“ for lovers of white tea, especially if you prefer a slightly darker cup.
