Description
Organic Jasmine Silver Needle (Yin Zhen Moli)
Known for its delicate flavour and health benefits, Chinese white tea has a history steeped in tradition and cultural significance. White tea originated during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD), when the finest white tea of all – Silver Needle – was reserved for royalty due to its rarity and the meticulous process involved in its production. Over the centuries, white tea has become more accessible, but it remains a symbol of elegance and of appreciating the finest tea.
Completely different to flavoured jasmine teas, our organic Jasmine Silver Needle is our best selling white tea. Delicate, soothing, and refreshing, it is simply Silver Needle tea (Bai Hao Yin Zhen) which after careful plucking and processing has been stored until the jasmine plants start to produce blossom. Jasmine pickers spend the entire day carefully hand plucking only those buds set to bloom that same evening. The silver needles and jasmine flowers are then placed on trays in thin alternating layers. As the day’s fresh jasmine buds unfurl and release their essential oils, the tea absorbs the jasmine essence. This process of exposing the tea to jasmine blossom takes place over several nights until the tea has taken on the fragrance and flavour of jasmine, giving us this wonderful tea.
